MANDALAY to BHAMO
Day 1. Mandalay jetty – Sheinmaga (Meals: -/L/D)
Check in on board the Amara River Cruise at 08:00 am. Your cruise will start by sailing north of Mandalay along Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun. Visit Mingun Bell, weighing 90 tons it is the biggest hanging undamaged bell in the world; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument cracked by an earth quake. After sightseeing continue cruising North on the Ayeyarwaddy River until the town of Sheinmaga. Lunch will be served on board.
Dinner and overnight stay on board Amara Cruise, docked near Sheinmaga.
Day 2. Sheinmaga – Thabeikkyin (Meals: B/ L /D )
Depart Sheinmaga at 06:00 am. Today you will cruise all the way to Thabeikkyin. Visit Nwe Nyein pottery village en-route. After passing the Third Defile the river banks grow hilly and are covered with Teak forests. You will see en-route small rural villages along the river banks whose lively hood is fishing and wood trading. Lunch will be served on board. Dinner and overnightstay on board Amara Cruise, docked near Thabeikkyin.
Day 3. Thabeikkyin – Tagaung (Meals: B/ L /D )
Continue cruising upstream at 06:00 am. Today you will arrive to Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Visit Tagaung and learn about its ancient civilization, history and culture. Lunch will be served on board. Dinner and overnight stay on board Amara Cruise, docked near Tagaung.
Day 4. Tagaung – Katha (Meals: B/ L /D )
At 06:00 am your river journey will continue on the upper Ayeyarwaddy. Today you will reach Katha, a beautiful riverside town with a colorful market, friendly people and a unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days”, written by George Orwell. One can still sense the old times charm here. Lunch will be served on board en-route to Katha. Dinner and overnight stay on board the Amara, moored near the harbor of Katha.
Day 5. Katha – Shwegu (Meals: B/ L /D )
Depart from Katha at 06:00 am and sail to Shwegu. On this day you will have a good chance to see the endangered and rare Ayeyarwaddy Dolphins, which are quite common in this area. Your cruise boat will dock at the opposite river bank of Shwegu near the Shwe Baw Kyunn pagodas. Hundreds of pagodas can be found at this site, according to some records they were built around the 10th century.
Lunch will be served on board en-route to Shwegu. Dinner and overnight stay on board the Amara, moored near by Shwegu..
Day 6. Shwegu – Bhamo (Meals: B/ L /D )
Departure at 08:00 am from Shwegu. Pass the Second Defile on this day. At the second defile the river banks grow to dramatic and steep cliffs . The scenery here is simply amazing and one of definite highlights of the trip. In the afternoon you will arrive to Bhamo, the northern most, place the Amara Cruise can reach.
Lunch will be served en-route. Overnight stay and dinner will be on board the Amara Cruise.
Day 7. Bhamo (Meals: B )
Breakfast on board and check out.

Day 1. Bhamo (Meals: -,-, D )
Check in on board the Amara River Cruise in the afternoon.
Overnight stay and dinner will be on board the Amara Cruise, docked in Bhamo..
Day 2. Bhamo – Shwegu (Meals: B / L / D )
Start your cruise down stream on the upper Ayeyarwaddy River at 8:00 am. En-route, you will pass the beautiful Second Defile,. where the river banks become steep cliffs and the river bottom drops away to extreme depths. The site is simply magical with beautiful scenery. In the afternoon, you will arrive to Shwegu Visit across the river locating cultural heritage site of Shwe Baw Kyunn, where hundreds of 10th century pagodas remain.
Lunch will be served on board en-route to Shwegu. Dinner and overnight stay will be on board Amara Cruise docked by Shwegu..
Day 3. Shwegu – Katha (Meals: B / L / D )
Morning departure at 8:00 am from Shwegu. The scenery along the river is beautiful. You will cruise passing small villages and dense tropical forests. Today you will have a good chance to see the rare and endangered Ayeyarwaddy Dolphins, which are quite common to this region. In the afternoon, you will arrive to Katha, a beautiful town with an interesting market, friendly people, and unique atmosphere. Katha is known from the book “Burmese Days” written by George Orwell. It has managed to retain some charm of the olden days until now. Lunch, dinner and overnight stay will be on board the Amara Cruise, docked near Katha.
Day 4. Katha – Tagaung (Meals: B / L / D )
Continue cruising downstream at 8:00 am. Today you will have an opportunity to visit Tagaung, one of the oldest capitals of Myanmar. Visit the ruins of Tagaung and learn about the history and ancient civilization that used to thrive here. Lunch will be served en-route. Dinner and overnight stay will be on board Amara Cruise just south of Tagaung.
Day 5. Tagaung – Kyaukmyaung (Meals: B / L / D )
In the morning around 8:00 am continue cruising down to Thabeikkyin. En-route you will pass the Third Defile, a hilly region covered with dense teak forests. Enjoy lunch while cruising and dinner and overnight stay on board the Amara Cruise near Kyaukmyaung.
Day 6. Kyaukmyaung – Mingun (Meals: B / L / D )
Set sail at 8:00 am down stream to Nwe Nyein pottery village. After sightseeing continue to Mingun. Visit Mingun Bell, the largest hanging undamaged bell in the world, weighing 90 tons; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument cracked by an earth quake. In the morning continue to Mandalay and enjoy breakfast on board before check out at the Mandalay Jetty.

MANDALAY to BAGAN
Day 1. Mandalay Jetty – Mingun – Sagaing (Meals: L / D )
Check in on board the Amara River Cruise at 10:00 am. We sail North of Mandalay along Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun. After lunch visit Mingun Bell, the largest hanging undamaged bell in the world weighing 90 tons; Shin Phyume Pagoda, and the unfinished Mingun Pagoda, a colossal brick monument cracked by an earth quake. After Mingun sightseeing continue cruise along the banks of Ayeyarwaddy to Sagaing. Sagaing is a home and training center for thousands of Buddhist monks and dotted by monasteries and pagodas. Visit Sagaing on foot and by horse cart.
Dinner and overnight stay on board the Amara Cruise, docked near Sagaing.
Day 2. Sagaing – Inwa – Semikhong (Meals: B / L / D )
After sunrise cruise to Inwa (Ava), one of the ancient capitals of Myanmar. Enjoy breakfast on board. Disembark for a tour to Inwa on foot or by horse cart. Visit the Nan Myint Watch Tower, the only remaining palace building also known as “the leaning tower of Ava”; picturesque Maha Aungmye Bonzan Monastery crafted of brick and stucco and the all-teak wood constructed and decorated BAGAYAR Monastery. After lunch on board continue cruising downstream. Along the way visit isolated Semikhong Village with it’s old wooden monasteries and a colorful market. Dinner and overnight stay on board, docked by a sandbank.
Day 3. Semikhong – Mt. Tangyi (Meals: B / L / D )
After breakfast on board continue cruise down stream passing Bagan. Disembark at the river bank of Mt. Tangyi. Drive to the foot Mt. Tangyi from where one can hike up to the top. Visit a pagoda on the top of the mountain and enjoy great views over Bagan which is resting on the opposite side of the Ayeyarwaddy river.
Lunch will be served on board while cruising. In the evening a private candle lit sand bank dinner will be set for the cruise passengers. Overnight stay on board Amara Cruise & docked by a sandbank.
Day 4. Mt. Tangyi – Bagan Jetty (Meals: B,-,- )
Breakfast on board and cruise to Bagan jetty. Check out time is 09:00 am.
